- NOTICE -
You are a TARGET of the Scam Artists

Your name, address, credit information, etc. appears to have been sold or otherwise distributed to several companies that intend to 'RELOAD' you. You are now identified by scam artists as a person who will make significant purchases, often on credit, on impulse or after a high pressure sales pitch.

Several membership campground schemes have been contacting former TAI members alleging or implying that they are acting with the blessing of or at the direction of 'the Attorney General's Office.' This is FALSE. One of these companies is 'Red Oaks Trails Resort.' There are others.

According to the Iowa Attorney General Office of Consumer Protection: contrary to statements or implications by the company (Red Oaks Trails Resort), this Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office 'certainly has not entered into any type of partnership with Red Oaks Trails Resort....' 'Several of that company's sales practices raised concerns with our office and we met with representatives to remedy the situation. During that meeting, and in later correspondence, our office outlined our concerns and the steps necessary for the company to avoid further attention. These concerns have not yet been resolved to our satisfaction...' 'We are taking further steps to remedy our concerns with the company's business practices. However, please advise any consumer who contacts you that we have not approved the company's business practices.'

You should note that Consumer Protection offices in Kansas, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, Alabama, Iowa, Washington, Minnesota. and other states have expressed similar concerns about several of these membership campground schemes.

It is our Committee's hope that these Attorneys General offices will find a way to collaborate on a common 'Standard of Performance' for membership campground developers and operators so that citizens of ALL states might know how to identify legitimate and responsible organizations.

All persons should be alert and cautious.
