5 Star Scheme – Exposed

We have many complaints about agents of this campground demanding dues that they are not entitled to and making threats that we do not believe will hold up under legal scrutiny.

They have alleged that former members must pay annual fees “until they die”!

We have been discussing this with attorneys and public officials who appear eager to test this theory in civil and possibly criminal court.

“YOU ARE NOT ALONE”

We (NAM) have many complaints from many others around the country who have been harassed by representatives of 5 Star. What are your rights?

The rules seem clear.

• If you use their facilities - you must pay their fees and obey their rules.

• If you do NOT pay their fees or obey their rules - they are within their rights to deny you the use of their facilities - nothing else! We have searched for language in their contracts that provide them any other remedy, without success.

• They do NOT, in our opinion, have a right to demand that you pay “Back Dues” unless you want to be reinstated as a member.

• You do NOT have an obligation to sell your former membership to someone else - a silly notion in our opinion!

These opinions have been tested in several other states and have been upheld.
It appears that we might get a chance to test them against 5 Star too.
