GOOD NEWS

SPECIAL OFFER FROM ONE OF THE "GOOD GUYS"

Southern Leisure Resorts

December 1998 - Our Committee has completed discussions with Mr. Bill Bain, Manager of Southern Leisure Resort in Louisiana who has made a special offer to Thousand Adventures and All Seasons members. The offer includes:

Initiation Fee: $0.00 Coast to Coast Optional

Annual Dues: $69.00 RPI Optional

Nightly Fee $ 6.00

"Southern Leisure Resort is located on Toledo Bend Lake near Many, LA. It has a typically warm climate, friendly atmosphere, and great fishing. The surrounding area is rich in historic sights and activities; local festivals abound. There are also several nearby casinos and some premiere golf courses. 'Y'all come down hear.'"

Membership information can be obtained by calling (800) 248-9621. Ask for Bill Bain. Tell him that you are interested in the membership that he described to the National Association for Members, Mr. Hopper.

I have spoken to Mr. Bain and I believe that this is an honest and reasonable offer.

Kind Words from a "Kindred Spirit"

February 2000 - The following is an excerpt of a communication from Mr. Charlie Colton, former Chairman of an organization similar to ours out in Washington state. He states in part:

"I want to tell that you should support "The National Association of Members" in order to achieve the goal of more stable membership camping now and the future!

I believe that it is necessary that you contact your friends and get them involved in this effort! I also believe that success of the industry will be achieved by cooperation between member organizations such as this and legitimate owners of membership camping parks and park systems!

You need to encourage all legitimate campground owners to cooperate with "The National Association of Members". Clearly park owners need to make a profit to stay in business but they should base profit on the reasonable balance of fairness to the members with adequate explanations of any increases in fees or changes in services offered!

Let's all pull together for better camping days ahead! This can be encouraged with the participation of other member oriented organizations! (Including Coast to Coast, etc…)

The National Association of Members has my full support! I feel that this is the "second and important step" in an effort to make camping fun, profitable for owners, and fair and reliable for members.

No more Chapter 11's where the members "get the shaft" and management gets a "bad name"!

So here is to "Success"!

Charlie Colton, Former Chairman
American Adventure Members' Group

Wake Up Call
to
Membership Campgrounds!

Why does the membership campground industry tolerate rogue companies like 5 Star (MS), Bullek (FL), Travel America and Timber Lodge (TX)?

Dues-til-you-DIE Scheme - Never!

Campers are lured to a sales pitch for a membership in an attractive campground. They are told that if they will buy a “Lifetime Membership” they will never have to pay the “Initiation Fee” again. “No one suggests to the purchaser that they will be expected to pay annual dues every year “Until they die”; and that they cannot simply drop or give back the membership.

Poisoning the Potential Membership Pool

These campgrounds poison the potential membership pool with their “Dues ‘til you die” and other schemes.

Help Solve this Problem

We (NAM) have proposed a 'Campground Members Bill of Rights'. We think these rights are fair and balanced.

Our Promise to Campground Owners

If you will promise to support these rights - we will help publicize your campground by listing it on our web sites and in our newsletters.

It’s the right thing to do.
