Buffalo Files Bankruptcy

MISSISSIPPI STATUS

AND HISTORY

Thousand Adventures of Mississippi, the organization some of is joined, was given as a gift to a Thomas Cloud company (RV Holdings [Texas]), by David Vopnfor -, the owner at the time, just before the parent company, TAI, was placed in bankruptcy.

Mr. Cloud then gave it to a company called Travel America (California), a company whose president at the time, we believe, was that same Thomas Cloud.

Travel America then gave it - again - apparently as a gift, to a Texas company called The Buffalo Corporation. Yep, owned by the same Thomas Cloud.

The Buffalo Corporation then re-incorporated it in Mississippi and called it Mississippi Adventures. Guess who owned Mississippi Adventures. Another person named Thomas Cloud. Not the same person, but his son.

The person who operated the Mississippi company at the time was none other than David Vopnford. (Remember him?)

CHAPTER 11

Buffalo soon filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Texas. The Texas bankruptcy judge, shortly converted that bankruptcy to a Chapter 7 liquidation and appointed a Chapter 7 Trustee, Mr. W. Steve Smith. The only income of Buffalo was from Mississippi Adventures.

CHAPTER 7

One of the early actions taken by Mr. Smith was to fire the people who were running Mississippi Adventures and install park managers and others that he felt he could count on to do a good and honest job. I don't envy him or his new managers. He has successfully petitioned the bankruptcy court to identify some of these managers as "debtors" in that same bankruptcy. The justification and details of this action are not all public information yet.

Mr. Smith is trying to pull what he perceives are the assets of Mississippi Adventures together to make Mississippi Adventures work as a profitable company. That would be a daunting task for an experienced campground manager. We don't know what Mr. Smith's experience might be in running a campground or a system of campgrounds. He is the guy who was available - and willing to try.

WEB SITE

He has established a web site that will serve as official notice to members and others of Mississippi Adventures. Check it out by clicking here.

Good luck Mr. Smith.

So what about the members?

Members of Mississippi Adventures still don't know what their status is with Travel America, Presidents Club, RPI, or Coast to Coast. Those issues will have to be addressed to develop some kind of comfort level with members who have decided to "stick it out" and pay their dues to the company.

Some of the members who owned "Leases" at Mississippi Pines have successfully obtained title to a portion of the RV park for a company they formed for that purpose. Members can do a lot when they work together as a group. Good luck folks.

Mississippi Adventures Web Site

The Trustee in the Texas bankruptcy of Buffalo Corp./Mississippi Adventures has established a web site for him to pass "Official Bankruptcy " information to members of that camping system. The Internet address of that site is:

Buffalo Corp. Defaults in Bankruptcy
Mississippi Adventures Taken Over by Trustee

Old Officers Fired

The Chapter 7 Trustee in the bankruptcy of the Buffalo Corp.(Mr. W. Steve Smith) has taken over the operations of Mississippi Adventures, Inc.

This included the firing of all former officers of the Mississippi company. It is now run by the Trustee and people he appointed.

"The 30 Acres"

The mortgage holder of about 13 acres of Mississippi Pines has repossessed that parcel of the park with the blessing of the bankruptcy court. Many rumors suggest that that parcel has been sold to a "Committee" of people who had leased lots there.

Very few members of "Mississippi Adventures/Travel America/Thousand Adventures have filed a claim in this bankruptcy. Some have.

Mississippi Pines Foreclosed

Buffalo Corp. Files Bankruptcy

It is reported that the mortgage holder of Mississippi Pines (former TAI RV park) was scheduled for a foreclosure sale last week but the sale was halted with the news that the apparent owner of the park, the Buffalo Corporation, a Texas company, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The Buffalo Corp., you recall, is the progeny of Tommy Cloud, Dave Vopnford, and their cronies from the Thousand Adventures/Travel America scheme.

Other assets of the Buffalo Corp. include 3 or 4 other parks in Mississippi, Thorenhaven in Nebraska, and probably other parks in other states.

It is not clear what, if any, impact this will have on the bankruptcy of Thousand Adventures, Inc. in Iowa.

These parks were once owned by Thousand Adventures, were transferred to Travel America, Inc., (who apparently didn't want them because they weren't making money), and were then "given" to the Buffalo Corp., who then filed bankruptcy.

Do we have members in Mississippi or Texas who want to track this action and report on it?

Send us your name, email or snail-mail address and we will work something out.
