OHIO Bankruptcy Update

— January 2000 —

HOORAY FOR MEMBERS!

The Ohio Judge (Calhoun) has awarded the claims of ALL people (creditors) who responded as we advised to the objections of the attorney for Thousand Adventures of Ohio/Travel America (Ms. Sara Daneman).

It seems that ALL members who replied to her objection - WON! There appeared to be some discrepancy between what she told the court she did to us and what she actually did... The court also seemed to take exception to the shopping list of objections that she sent to us.

The initial deadline set by Ms. Daneman of October 31 was extended to December 31 as we had asked the court. We needed the extra time to help members understand what kinds of information/documentation was required for the reply.

We held seminars all over Ohio so that we could explain what needed to be done and how to do it.

This is a picture from one of the several seminars we held at Leisure Lake
:
There were several other seminars throughout Ohio.

OK, we won. So where's the money?

Many of us have hired Mr. Pettigrew to handle our claims.
This, we expect, includes going after the money that is owed to us.

If you DID reply to Ms. Daneman's objection to your claim before December 31, 1999 and you want Mr. Pettigrew to help collect your money, be sure to send him your $25 very soon.  It is clear that he believes in our cause - but this is how he makes his living.

The attorney for Thousand Adventures of Ohio has apparently objected to claims of all members in that bankruptcy.

Members were given 30 days to respond to her objections and were presented with a "shopping list" of possible objections. They were not told, however, what the specific objection was to their individual claims.

The Ohio Members Committee has asked for and expects to obtain an extension of time for members to file their responses to the objections.

Ohio Members Finally get an Attorney

Arrangements have been made, for members who wish to participate, to be represented by an attorney. His name is Grady Pettigrew. Mr. Pettigrew is a respected bankruptcy attorney in the Columbus area and is a former bankruptcy judge.

The cutoff date for filing the original "Proof-of-Claim" in the Ohio bankruptcy was May 26, 1998. If your claim was filed by this deadline you may be able to successfully defend your claim with the help of Mr. Pettigrew.

We are very hopeful.
